Mbare-Hatfield District is located in Harare and its office is found at Girl’s High School along Takawira Street opposite Harare Gardens.
The Formal and Non-Formal institutions under the jurisdiction of the district are situated in Mbare, Hatfield, Eastlea, Msasa Park, Sunningdale, Waterfalls, Houghton Park, Braeside and Cranborne, Mainway Meadows and the Central Business District (CBD). The furthest schools are situated 12 kilometres from the District Office.
The district is the hub of Independent Colleges in Harare Province if not in the country by virtue of its location in the CBD.
The district has 41 schools comprised of 31 Primary schools and 12 secondary & high schools and all are government-owned.
Of the thirty-one (31) primary schools in the district, fifteen (15) of them are situated in the high-density areas of Mbare and Sunningdale while others are in low and middle-density suburbs.
Of the 12 high schools in the district, 4 are girls schools, 3 are boys schools and 5 are mixed schools.

Below are the pass rates of the schools in the district for A’Level from 2015 to 2018. Queen Elizabeth took first place in three out of the four years analysed. It was only placed third in 2017 with a 90.63% pass rate.
Allan Wilson and Prince Edward performed dismally in the period under review.
