Peterhouse Boys School is part of the Peterhouse group of schools which also consists of, Peterhouse Girls, Springvale House Preparatory School, and Peterhouse Nursery School.  Peterhouse is widely regarded as Zimbabwe’s top independent boarding school and one of the premier independent schools in Southern Africa.

Peterhouse Boys, founded in 1955, caters for approximately 450 boys from Form 1 to 6th Form, all of whom are full-boarders.

The Peterhouse schools are situated on two estates on either side of the main road between Harare and Mutare just outside Marondera and share two conservation areas, Calderwood Park and Gosho Park. The Group is unique in Zimbabwe as it caters for children from pre-school to tertiary education level making it a truly special entity.

The schools form a caring, friendly, and dedicated community for the growth and development of its pupils.

In sports, the school competes against Prince Edward School, St. John's College, Allan Wilson, St. George's College, Oriel Boys' High, Churchill Boys High, and Cranborne High.

Form 1 Admission into Form 1 at Peterhouse Boys is dependent upon the following:

i. Satisfactory performance in the CHISZ Common Entrance examination (written on the first Saturday in July of the applicant’s Grade 7 year); and
ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s junior school.

Parents of Form 1 applicants are encouraged to register their son with Peterhouse as he enters Grade 6. The deadline for applications is 30 April in the applicant’s Grade 7 year.

Form 2, 3 and 4 Admission into Forms 2, 3 or 4 is dependent upon:

i. Satisfactory performance in any relevant exams (e.g. Common Entrance or internal school exams); and
ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school.

Form 5 (Lower 6th) and Form 6 (Upper 6th) Admission into Form 5 or 6 is dependent upon:

i. Satisfactory performance at IGCSE/O Level; the applicant should have at least 6 B grades at IGCSE level and must have passes in English and Maths), and
ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school.

At all levels, in deciding whether or not to admit an applicant to Peterhouse consideration is also given to:

i. The applicant’s current school (preference is given to applicants who attend a CHISZ school); and
ii. Any previous connection the applicant has with Peterhouse (Sibling/Petrean).

Parents of all applicants (together with the applicant himself) are invited to visit Peterhouse for a tour of the school and to meet the Rector of Peterhouse Boys.

Instructions and Notes

Name Marking: Every article must be marked with the boy’s name (on the inside of collars and waistbands of trousers and shorts). Nametapes must include the boy’s surname, initials, and house letter (e.g., JONES G (E)). No iron-on labels are allowed.

  • The school provides 200 nametapes for D Block (Form One) boys, charged to the parent’s account.

Repair: All items must be in good repair.

Purchase Authority: If a boy lacks the required items, the Housemaster can arrange purchases through the school.

Washing: Clothing must be machine washable.

Casual Wear: Boys should bring casual clothes for Sundays, including shorts, t-shirts, a bush hat, a jersey, and casual shoes. In winter, jeans and a tracksuit are recommended. All items must be clearly marked.

Boarding Facilities at Peterhouse Boys
