Peterhouse Girls‘ School is part of the Peterhouse group which also includes Peterhouse Boys, Springvale House Pre

paratory School and Peterhouse Nursery school.

Peterhouse is widely regarded as Zimbabwe’s top independent boarding school and one of the premier independent schools in Southern Africa.

Peterhouse Girls' School was founded in 1987 and it caters for 430 girls from Form 1 to 6th Form all but 10 of whom are full-boarders. Peterhouse schools are situated on two estates on either side of the main road between Harare and Mutare just outside Marondera and share two conservation areas, Calderwood Park and Gosho Park.

The school has small class sizes; 20-25 in forms 1 and 2, 15 to 20 at IGCSE level and 10 to 15 at A level.

Peterhouse Girls' School Pass Rate

The school attained the following results in the 2020 exams:
99% pass rate at A-Level
96% pass rate at AS Level.

In the Cambridge 2019 exams the overall pass rate at Peterhouse Girls was 91.8% with 67.2% of all papers graded A* to B; this is the fifth year in succession that Peterhouse Girls has achieved a 90%+ pass rate – another excellent set of results.

Peterhouse is an elite school and the fees are on the high end. The last known fees charged by the school were US$3,540.00.

Form 1 Admission into Form 1 at Peterhouse Girls is dependent upon the following:

i. Satisfactory performance in the CHISZ Common Entrance examination (written on the first Saturday in July of the applicant’s Grade 7 year); and

ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s junior school.

Parents of Form 1 applicants are encouraged to register their daughter with Peterhouse as she enters Grade 6. The deadline for applications is 30 April in the applicant’s Grade 7 year.

 

Form 2, 3 and 4 Admission into Forms 2, 3 or 4 is dependent upon:

i. Satisfactory performance in any relevant exams (e.g. Common Entrance or internal school exams); and

ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school.

 

Form 5 (Lower 6th) and Form 6 (Upper 6th) Admission into Form 5 or 6 is dependent upon:

i. Satisfactory performance at IGCSE/O Level; the applicant should have at least 6 B grades at IGCSE level and must have passes in English and Maths), and

ii. A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school.

 

At all levels, in deciding whether or not to admit an applicant to Peterhouse consideration is also given to:

i. The applicant’s current school (preference is given to applicants who attend a CHISZ school); and

ii. Any previous connection the applicant has with Peterhouse (Sibling/Petrean).

Parents of all applicants (together with the applicant herself) are invited to visit Peterhouse for a tour of the school and to meet the Headmistress of Peterhouse Girls.
