Bernard Mizeki College

Bernard Mizeki College is a private, boys boarding school located in Marondera. The school was founded by a group of prominent individuals of both European and African descent.

It was founded in 1958 in memory of Bernard Mizeki, an African martyr who died in the Marondera area. The school is affiliated to the Anglican Church but is an independent school, not diocesan. The school has an enrolment of about 450 boys from form one to six.

The school offers both the Zimsec and Cambridge syllabus is an International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) centre.

The College is into both crop and livestock production producing crops such as tobacco, maize, potatoes, vegetables, tomatoes, cabbages and onions. The College boasts of a cattle herd of 61, 180 pigs, 1 000 broiler chickens and 500 layers at different stages of growth producing an average of 100 eggs per day. Fish farming and bee-keeping are also practised at the school.

Bernard Mizeki College Pass Rate

The school is a centre of academic excellence and it attained an impressive 100% pass rate in the GCE AS & A Level 2020 & 2019 exams. At O' Level the school had a 82.54% pass rate.

In the 2017 Zimsec A-Level exams the college was placed 53 out of 100.

The Zimsec O'Level classes managed 86.11% and 82.54% in 2015 and 2013 respectively.

Bernard Mizeki College Application

Admission into Form 1 at Bernard Mizeki is dependent upon the following:

  • A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s junior school.
  • A progress report of the applicant from Grade 6 (2 nd & 3rd term) and Grade 7 (1 st term)
  • The deadline for applications is 30 August in the applicant’s Grade 7 year.

The application should include the following:

  • A US$30 registration fee (non-refundable).
  • A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.

Bernard Mizeki College Fees

Bernard Mizeki was intended to appeal to the upper African class and charged fees three to four times higher than ordinary mission schools. In 2019 the school increased its fees to ZWL15 000 which was equivalent to about US$900.
