Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic is inviting applications for the January 2025 Intake. Located in Gwanda District, Bulawayo, the institution was named in honor of the late Vice President Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo.
The polytechnic offers a wide range of programmes, providing students with the opportunity to obtain National Certificates, National Diplomas, and Higher National Diplomas across various fields of study.

Joshua Knomo Polytechnic offers a variety of courses across different disciplines. Below is a list of programmes along with their entry requirements.
Entry Requirements at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic:
To qualify for admission into any programme, applicants must have:
- At least five (5) O-Level passes with a grade C or better, including English Language and Mathematics OR
- A combination of at least four (4) O-Level passes and a relevant National Certificate.
- National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels: Require a National Certificate and a National Diploma, respectively, as an entry requirement.
Note: Applicants can enrol in courses marked (#) without Mathematics and Science.

Education
Diploma in Education Primary
Early Childhood Development (ECD)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
A. Diploma in Education Course: Early Childhood Development and Junior Education
- At least 5 ‘O' Level passes with grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics. A pass in Science is an added advantage.
- The Polytechnic offers six indigenous languages, namely: Sesotho, Tshivenda, Tjikalanga, IsiNdebele, Shangani, and ChisBiona as part of the Diploma in Education Primary course. Applicants must indicate their first language/mother tongue.
Diploma in Education Secondary Sciences Course
- 5 ‘O' Level passes with grade C or better including English Language, Science, and Mathematics to train as Mathematics, Science, Geography, or Agriculture teacher.
Applicants may choose to specialise in any one of the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Pure Science
- Agriculture
- Geography
- The applicant must have a pass in the subject they wish to specialise in.
For Pure Science specialisation, the applicant should have any one of the listed ‘O' Level Pure Science subjects/combinations:
- Physical Science
- Extended Science
- Combined Science
- Physical Biology or Chemistry and Biology
- Integrated Science
- NB: For the Secondary Sciences course, a pass at ‘A' Level in the specialisation subject is an added advantage.
How to apply at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic
There are two ways to apply at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic.
Online Application:

Manual/ Physical Application:
Applicants can submit their applications in person, along with certified photocopies of the following documents:

- Proof of payment of the processing fee
Payment Deatails
A non-refundable processing fee of USD 15.00 must be deposited into one of the following accounts:
- CBZ Bank – Account Number: 6496 0956 480 069, Gwanda Branch
- AFC Bank – Account Number: 100 000 365 801, Gwanda Branch
Important: Ensure that your name (not the parent's or guardian's name), ID number, and the course area you are applying for are written on the banking slip.
Deadlines
The closing date for applications is 28 June 2024. However, interested candidates can check with the Polytechnic to confirm the availability of vacancies after this closing date.
