Hellenic Academy Admission Requirements

  • Fashion sneakers (e.g., Superga, Vans) are not allowed.
  • Slops, sandals, or similar footwear are not permitted unless specific permission is granted by the Director of Sport.
  • Students must not be barefoot except on the sports field during an activity.
  • No sport is to be played in the everyday school uniform.

Note for 1st Team Players:

  • 1st Team members may wear tour tracksuits, t-shirts, hoodies, and other team kit only during practices.

Hellenic Academy School Hair Policy & Grooming

Hellenic Academy maintains high standards for grooming and appearance. All students are expected to follow the school’s hair policy strictly.

Boys’ Hair Guidelines

  • Hair must be short, off the ears and the collar.
  • No fancy or trendy hairstyles and no hair dyeing is permitted.
  • Fringes must be well above the eyebrows.
  • Shaved heads, excessively short cuts, and shaved sides are not allowed.
  • Extreme comb-overs and razor designs are prohibited.
  • No use of hair gel or styling products to create spikes or textured styles.
  • Sixth Form boys may wear a temple fade, but extreme fades and comb-overs are not permitted. Hair must remain short and neat.

Girls’ Hair Guidelines

If a girl’s hair touches her collar, it must be tied back. Ponytails must be worn at the back of the head. All hair must be clipped back off the face.

Caucasian Hair
  • Hair must be the natural colourβ€”no highlights or colouring.
  • No ponytails or plaits at the top of the head.
  • Only ballet buns may be worn, positioned at the back or napeβ€”not on top of the head.
  • French plaits and Dutch braids are allowed if neat.
  • Fringes must not extend below the eyebrows.
  • Pigtails, shaved sides, and short, messy hair are not allowed. Short hair must be neat, clean, and off the face.
African Hair
  • Natural hair may be styled in neat freehand cornrows (no fancy designs).
  • Afros must be neat and not excessive in size.
  • Braids are permitted if: They are the natural color of the student’s hair, not thicker than 1cm, and if braids touch the collar, they must be tied back in a single ponytail at the back or nape.
  • No jumbo braids, weaves, dreadlocks, wigs, or shaved sides are allowed.
  • Ballet buns are acceptable if worn at the back or nape (not on top of the head).
  • Edges may not be gelled down.

Girls’ Hair Accessories

Only black or very dark blue elastics may be used to tie up hair.

  • Hair accessories may be navy blue or white.
  • Alice bands may be dark brown or black, depending on hair colour.
  • All clips, bands, and slides must be plainβ€”no fancy or decorative items.
  • Accessories must be functional, not ornamental.
  • Hair jewelry is not permitted.
