Ministry of Health & Child Care: Primary Care Nurse Intakes 2026

The Ministry of Health & Child Care invites applications for the Primary Nurse Training programs for the January, May, and September 2026 intakes. Recruitment will be conducted once for all three intakes.

This program offers a comprehensive 2-year Certificate in Nursing, aimed at equipping aspiring nurses with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality healthcare services

Entry Requirements for the Primary Nurse Training for January, May, and September 2026 intakes

Candidates interested in applying should meet the following qualifications:

  •  minimum of 5 Ordinary Level subjects with a grade C or better.
  • English Language and a Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Physical Science, Combined Science, and Physics).
  • The other three should exclude practical subjects (Fashion and Fabrics, Metal Work, Technical Graphics, Art, Woodwork, Physical Education, and Building, etc.).
  • The passes should have been obtained from not more than THREE sittings with certificates. Examination Result Slips are not accepted.
  • Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years of age by the date of commencement of training, which are 5 January, 4 May & 7 September.

Primary Nurse Training for the January, May & September Intakes Application Deadline and Submission Locations

The application letters must be submitted no later than 10 November 2025, addressed to the Medical Superintendent or Senior Nurse Tutor-In-Charge at the following Primary Care Training School:

January Intake:
Bonda, Gokwe South, Howard, Inyathi, Murambinda, Mt Darwin, Mt St Mary’s, Mt Selinda, Mnene, Nyadire

May Intake:
Gokwe South, Luisa Guidotti, Mutambara, Sanyati, Silveira, St Albert’s

September Intake:
Gokwe South, Inyathi, Muvonde, Mt St Mary’s, Silveira, Tsholotsho

Interested candidates for the Primary Care Nursing Training program are encouraged to apply before the deadline

Documents Required for Interview

For shortlisted candidates, the following should be presented at the interview:

  • Original and certified copies of the Birth Certificate
  • National Identity Card
  • Ordinary Level Certificates
  • Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
  • 2 passport-size photos with the applicant’s name on the back.
  • Recommendation letter from the Head of the last secondary school attended

Please note That Physical verification of the original academic and identification certificates will be conducted on the day of the interviews.

Shortlisting and Interview Process

Only candidates who meet the recruitment criteria will be shortlisted for interviews. Successful candidates will be deployed to schools where training posts exist throughout the country.

The Public is hereby informed that the Ministry of Health and Child Care does not advertise through any other media except state print media and does not charge any fee for processing the applications.
