Admission Requirements for Marondera University 2026 Intake

If you’re considering applying for the Marondera University 2026 intake, ensure you meet the following entry requirements:

General Admission Requirements

For admission to a 4-year degree program at MUAST, applicants must have the following qualifications in the ZIMSEC/CAMBRIDGE examinations or their equivalent:

  • ‘O’ Level Requirements: Applicants must have passed a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • ‘A’ Level Requirements: Applicants must have two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects, except for applicants seeking admission to the BSc Honours in Development Sciences and Policy.

OR

  • Diploma Holders: Applicants with a Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution may also apply. To qualify, applicants must have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade must have at least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field.

Mature Entry Requirements

Applicants applying through the Mature Entry route must satisfy the following additional requirements:

  • Age Requirements: Applicants should be at least 25 years of age for males and 23 years of age for females on the first day of the academic year in which admission is sought.
  • Work Experience: Applicants should demonstrate potential suitability for university studies by virtue of relevant work experience. (Note: This requirement does not apply to applicants for the BSc Honours in Crop Production Technology, BSc Honours in Animal Science and Technology, or BSc Honours in Horticulture.)

FACULTY OF AGRIBUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

1. Diploma in Supply Chain Management (18 Months)

Entry Requirement: 5 O-Level passes, which must include English language.

2. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Supply Chain Management (4 Years)

Entry Requirement (Option 1 – ‘A' Levels): 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Economics, Accounting, Business Enterprise, Agribusiness, Computer Science, Management of Business, Geography, or any other related subject.
Entry Requirement (Option 2 – Diploma): A diploma holder in a relevant field of study such as Procurement and Supply, Logistics and Transport, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

3. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agribusiness Entrepreneurship and Management (4 Years)

Entry Requirement (Option 1 – ‘A' Levels): 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Agribusiness, Business Enterprise, Economics, Agriculture, Accounting, Management of Business, Mathematics, Geography, or any other related subject.
Entry Requirement (Option 2 – Diploma): A diploma holder in a relevant field of study, such as Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, Business Management, Horticulture, Marketing, or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

4. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Management (4 Years)

Entry Requirement (Option 1 – ‘A' Levels): 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Agribusiness, Business Enterprise, Economics, Agriculture, Accounting, Management of Business, Mathematics, and Geography, or any other related subject.
Entry Requirement (Option 2 – Diploma): A diploma holder in a relevant field of study, such as Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, Business Management, Horticulture, Marketing, or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

5. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Digital Marketing (4 Years)

Entry Requirement (Option 1 – ‘A' Levels): 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Business Enterprise, Agribusiness, Computer Science, Accounting, Management of Business, Geography, Agriculture, or any other related subject.
Entry Requirement (Option 2 – Diploma): A diploma holder in a relevant field of study, such as Digital Marketing, Marketing, Business Management, Accounting, or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

6. Master of Science in Agricultural Economics (2 Years)

Entry Requirement: An appropriate good (Hons) degree from a recognized University in one of the following fields: Agriculture (with approved agricultural economics courses), Agricultural Economics, Economics, and Agribusiness.

7. Master of Science in Agribusiness Management (2 Years)

Entry Requirement: An appropriate good (Hons) degree from a recognized University in one of the following fields: Accounting, Business Management, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Economic Theory, Mathematics, and Statistics.

8. Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes (2 Years)

Entry Requirement: A relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized University.

9. Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes – Full Time (3 Years) / Part Time (4 Years)

Entry Requirement: A relevant Master's or MPhil degree from a recognized University.

Faculty of BioSystems Engineering and Technology

1. Diploma in Irrigation Engineering (3 Years)

Entry Requirements: 5 ‘O' Levels, which include Mathematics and English with symbols of at least a C or better, OR a National Certificate in Water Resources, Irrigation Engineering, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, or a related national certificate.

2. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering (5 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 A-level passes in Mathematics and/or Physics, PLUS any one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural engineering, Food science, Computer science, Technical Graphics, Crop Science, Geography, Information Technology, Software Engineering.

3. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Irrigation Engineering (5 Years)

Entry Requirements: At least five Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and any science subject with a grade C or better. AND at least two Advanced Level passes in Mathematics (Pure Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Mechanics) and Physics, PLUS any one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Drawing, Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture, Computer Science, or any approved equivalent.

4. Master of Science in Mechanisation System Analysis and Management (2 Years)

Entry Requirements: A First Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering degree.

Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology

1. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Geographic Information Science and Earth Observation (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Geography, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, or any other relevant science subject.

2. Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Food Processing and Technology (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Food Science, Geography, Crop Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, or any other relevant science subject.
Note: Scholarship available.

3. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Food Systems and Nutrition (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 5 Ordinary levels including English, Maths, and a Science subject AND 2 A-level subjects required from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Agriculture, Food Science, or a related sciences subject. Diploma or certificate holders may be considered.

4. Master of Science in Food Processing Systems and Technology (2 Years)

Entry Requirements: An appropriate good Honours degree from a recognised University in one of the following: Food Science, Nutrition Sciences, Agriculture, and any related BSc programme.

5. Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes (2 Years)

Entry Requirements: A relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized University.

6. Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes – Full Time (3 Years) / Part Time (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: A relevant Master's or MPhil degree from a recognized University.

Faculty of Development and Behavioural Sciences

1. Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (18 Months)

Admission Requirements: 5 Ordinary levels, which must include English, OR a National Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation or a related national certificate.

2. Diploma in Health Services Management (18 Months)

Admission Requirements: 5 Ordinary Levels including English Language, Mathematics or equivalent AND a Science subject, OR a National Certificate in Health Management Services or a related national certificate.

3. Diploma in Public Policy and Digital Governance (18 Months)

Admission Requirements: 5 Ordinary levels, which must include Mathematics or equivalent AND English, OR a National Certificate in public policy or a related national certificate.

4. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Development Sciences and Policy (4 Years)

Admission Requirements (Option 1): 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: History, Shona, Family and Religious Studies, Ndebele, Literature, Geography, Sociology, Indigenous Literature, Foreign Language, Heritage Studies, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography and Agriculture or any other related subject.
OR
Admission Requirements (Option 2): A diploma holder in a relevant field of study such as Agriculture, Business Management, Education (Agriculture or Business Management), Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

5. Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes (2 Years)

Admission Requirements: A relevant Bachelors' degree from a recognized University.

2. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Soil Science (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 ‘A' Level passes in Chemistry and any one of the following subjects: Agriculture, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Environmental Science, or any other related subject.
Note: Scholarship available.

3. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Natural Resources Management (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 ‘A' Level passes in any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography, Agriculture, Animal Science, Crop Science, Biology, Chemistry, Sociology, History, Divinity, English Literature, or any other related subject.

4. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Wildlife and Fisheries Management (4 Years)

Entry Requirements: 2 ‘A' Level passes in Biology and any one of the following subjects: Agriculture, Animal Science, Crop Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, or Environmental Science, or any other related subject.

5. Master of Science in Industrial Ecology and Environmental Management (2 Years)

Entry Requirements: A BSc degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Natural Resources, Agricultural Science, or any equivalent.

6. Master of Philosophy Degree Programmes (2 Years)

Entry Requirements: A relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized University.

7. Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programmes – Full Time (3 Years) / Part Time (4 Years)

2. Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Crop Production and Technology (4 Years)
