Admission Requirements for Marondera University August 2025 Intake
Prospective students should meet the following requirements:
For admission to a 4-year degree program at MUAST, applicants must have the following qualifications in the ZIMSEC/CAMBRIDGE examinations or their equivalent:
- ‘O’ Level Requirements: Applicants must have passed a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
- ‘A’ Level Requirements: Applicants must have two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects, except for applicants seeking admission to the BSc Honours in Development Sciences and Policy.
OR
- Diploma Holders: Applicants with a Diploma in the relevant field from a recognised institution may also apply. To qualify, applicants must have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade must have at least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field.
Mature Entry Requirements
Applicants applying through the Mature Entry route must satisfy the following additional requirements:
- Age Requirements: Applicants should be at least 25 years of age for males and 23 years of age for females on the first day of the academic year in which admission is sought.
- Work Experience: Applicants should demonstrate potential suitability for university studies by virtue of relevant work experience. (Note: This requirement does not apply to applicants for the BSc Honours in Crop Production Technology, BSc Honours in Animal Science and Technology, or BSc Honours in Horticulture.)

- Bachelor of Science Honours in Animal Science and Technology
Entry Requirements:
- 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Agriculture and any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, or any other related subject.
2. Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Production Technology
Entry Requirements:
- 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Agriculture and any one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, or any other related subject.
3. Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Animal Science and Health
Entry Requirements:
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Animal Science and any one of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, or any other related subject/ A diploma holder in a relevant field.
4. Bachelor of Science Honours in Horticulture
Entry Requirements:
- 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Agriculture and any one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, or any other related subject.

POSTGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES
- MSc. Degree in Animal Science (MAS)
Entry Requirements:
An appropriate good Honours Degree from a recognised University in one of the following fields:
- Agriculture (including approved Animal Science courses)
- Veterinary Science (Note: Where this degree has been awarded without classification, evidence will be required that performance was equivalent to a good honours degree.)
- Biological Sciences (Evidence is required that candidates have performed satisfactorily in courses in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Statistics.)
Applicants whose previous experience is inadequate may be required to attend selected Undergraduate courses as occasional students to qualify for admission to the MSc programme.
2. MSc. Degree in Crop Science (Agronomy/Plant Breeding) – (MCR)
Entry Requirements:
An appropriate good Honours Degree from a recognised University in the following fields:
- Crop Science, Horticulture, or Biological Sciences.
3. MSc. Degree in Crop Protection – (MCP)
Entry Requirements:
An appropriate good Honours Degree from a recognised University in:
- Crop Science, Horticulture, or Biological Sciences.
4. MSc. in Agricultural Economics – (MAGEC)
Entry Requirements:
An appropriate good Honours Degree from a recognised University in one of the following fields:
- Agriculture (with appropriate and approved agricultural economics courses), Agricultural Economics, Economics, or Agribusiness.
OR
An appropriate and relevant Social Science degree or its equivalent as approved by the Department of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship. Applicants may be admitted based on relevant work experience in these fields.
